It offers miles of secondary roads, winding up to the Pyrenees foothills with spectacular scenery inland and on the coast. This area is a paradise for cyclists and one of the top road cycling destinations in the world. This is a point to point tour to enable you to see as much as possible of Catalonia.
Wonderful scenery framed by the Pyrenees mountains on quiet secondary roads, lush green valleys with some challenging climbs, three rivers, rolling farmland with fields of orchards, sunflowers, vineyards, olive groves, spectacular coastal paths and unspoilt beaches not forgetting the medieval city of Girona, the wine trail in Perallada and the Dali Museum in Figueres. We meet you at Girona airport, or Torelló station if arriving from Barcelona airport and transfered to La Rectoria de San Minguel de Pineda, a beautifully restored rectory adjacent to the Vias Verdes cycle path. In the morning we will meet you for your bike fitting and briefing before transferring you to Besalu with its medieval bridge
From here your cycling starts with a beutiful section to the lakeside town of Banyoles, make time for plenty of stops for terrific photo opportunities and of course lunch in one of the many hostelries along the way. The route then turns back through the National Park and on to La Rectoria de San Miguel, for your second night

Today you will head south for the historic town of Girona the culture capital of Catalonia with it ancient university and old Jewish quarter where your next hotel, the Historic hotel, is situated. On the way you will pass through some interesting towns one of which is Caldes de Malavella the home of ‘Vichy Catalan’ a very famous sparkling mineral water.

Back in the saddle today you climb out of Girona on the famous Els Angles climb and on to the medieval village of Monells with is pretty arched square and then on to the important town of La Bisbal d’Emporda. This town is the capital of the province of Baix Emporda and has many interesting ceramic and antique shops This would be a good stop for lunch before again climbing over the pass of’ La Ganga’ to Calonge and on to the port of Palamos where you will find the Hotel Trias perfectly situated overlooking the sea front. Why not explore the old quarter sampling some tapas before enjoying the Menu Estreta in the hotel’s colonial style dining room.

Heading north today you will pass through the town of Palafrugell and on to the pretty village of Pals. Leave the bike in the parking area and walk up to the church through the narrow cobbled streets which have not changed in 500 years. The route then crosses over to San Feliu de Boada where the restaurant ‘Can Joan’ offers a great well priced lunch. Still heading north you come to the town of Verges before turning east to Torroella de Montgri. You will see the church on the skyline.

Check into the Hotel Moli del Mig
This morning you will continue north to L’Escala where you can visit the Greek/Roman ruins of Empuires where one of the finest ampitheatres outside Rome can be found. The village of Sant Marti next to the ruins has many good bars and restaurants. On from here the route takes you to Perallada a very important wine producing town before turning west for Figueres. This is the home of the Dali Museum.
